A Musical Journey from Texas to Los Angeles

Born and raised in the heart of Texas, my journey into the world of music began with a life-altering moment—the sight of the Beatles on the Ed Sullivan Show. Captivated by their performance, I declared,  "I want to do that,"  prompting my parents to gift my his first electric guitar.   However a high school football injury redirected me to the bass, setting the stage for my musical evolution,  inspired by Paul McCartney's iconic bass lines. This revelation paved the way for a musical shift that would shape my future.

Though initially drawn to veterinary studies in Florida,   the call of music proved stronger, prompting my return to Texas and joining the local country rock band “Toby Beau”,  which started the beginning of a remarkable journey.

This marked a significant detour from my initial academic path, as life on the road and the thrill of performing took precedence.   Medical or music career??? Guess which won?

A turning point came when “Toby Beau” signed a management deal with "Aucoin Management"  (of KISS fame)  and put us on RCA Records,  catapulting us to the vibrant music scene of New York City and the world.  I quickly embraced the whirlwind of the road—hotels, tour buses,  and coliseums—touring alongside musical legends like Bob Seeger,  Foreigner,  and the Doobie Brothers, celebrating the success of the band's #1 hit, "My Angel Baby” and the popular cover of “Then You Can Tell Me Goodbye”.

After two years of touring and recording, and sparked by my studio experience with “Toby Beau”, I embarked on a new adventure in the recording industry.  Balancing my time between playing bass in the dynamic music scene of Texas and working at San Antonio’s “United Audio Recording”, I honed  my engineering skills on the diversity and richness of the city's music scene.

Seeking to elevate my studio expertise, I made the move to Los Angeles. There, I freelanced and worked for many of the hundreds of recording studios across the city.   The opportunity to work in theater and television led me to post-production at “Laser Pacific Corp”, ”Matchframe”, and “Pacific Soundwaves” where I delved into the realms of digital editing and mixing, Becoming accomplished on Pro Tools.  I spent the next decade contributing my talents to shows for major networks,  including NBC, ABC, CBS, Fox, Disney, HBO, A&E, Sci-Fi, TLC, History Channel, and Showtime.

Opting to freelance once again, I founded ”Studio Z" in Toluca Lake,  where I continued to edit and mix network shows, along with on-air promos for Disney.  The studio's success paved the way for its relocation to Rancho Park in West Los Angeles,  where we thrive in recording and mixing music, handling post-production projects as well as podcasts.

Simultaneously,  my passion for live performance persists.  I contribute bass guitar and vocals to Los Angeles-based tribute bands, including "Rid'n the Storm Out" (REO Speed Wagon), "Dog'n Butterfly" (Heart) , and "Best Shot" (Pat Benatar).  Today, my journey continues at the intersection of recording, live performance, and the ever-evolving landscape of the music industry.

Through twists and turns, from Texas to New York City to stages around the country and the vibrant scene of Los Angeles, my journey embodies a fusion of passion, talent, and an unyielding love for the art of sound.
